Capriccio Hat and Mitts

The Capriccio Hat & Mitts by Nancy Mills use a free form yet structured design. The color notes may be placed where you want or follow the pattern. The hat is knit in the round. The mitts are knit flat then joined with a 3-needle bind off. There’s only a small amount of knitting in the round for the thumb. The pattern includes three sizes for both the hat and mitts for children and adults. About 250 yards of main color and 120 yards of contrast color in DK weight yarn will make the large hat and mitts in the same combination. Shown in Jorstad Creek Chelan.

Aasgard Pass Hat

The Aasgard Pass Hat by Jann Hoppler is named for the Pass into Washington’s Alpine Lakes. The brim begins as a garter stitch band that is knit flat and the crown is picked up from one side of the band and worked to the top of the crown. This pattern is written for 3 sizes, 18 – 22 inches. The hat takes approximately 100 yards of the main color and 75 yards of the contrasting color in light worsted or DK weight yarn. The gold and blue hat was worked in Jorstad Creek Camano.

Staircase Trail Hat

The Staircase Trail Hat by Jann Hoppler is a fast knit with a classic result. This hat is worked in the round with a garter stitch band and simple 4 stitch cables to the crown. Pattern includes five sizes:  16 – 22½ inches around and is stylish for men, women and children. The Staircase Trail Hat takes 135 – 190 yards of DK weight yarn. The grey hat is shown in luxurious Jorstad Creek Spirit Lake.

Traslov Hat

The Traslov Hat by Kerry Graber has a stranded two-color pattern that comes from traditional knitting on the island of Gotland, a lovely place off the coast of Sweden. This hat is worked from the top down and the crown increases are worked in the solid stripes before the pattern starts. The Traslov Hat pattern includes directions for 3 sizes to fit children to large adults and can be made with 1 skein in each color of Jorstad Creek Finnlanka, Hazelwood, or Boston Harbor yarns.

Woodard Bay Hat

The Woodard Bay Hat by Jann Hoppler is knit in the round, with directions for two sizes which can be made in DK or Aran weight yarn. Because the twisted rib pattern is very stretchy, each size fits a wide range of head measurements, youth to large adult. This stitch pattern makes this hat warm and cozy. You will need 140 yards of DK or Aran weight yarns. The gold and blue hats were made with Jorstad Creek Hazelwood; the blue hat was made with their Hazelwood yarn.
