Mitts

Beaded Cuffs

The Beaded Cuffs by Jann Hoppler are fun to wear and a small project to learn to add beads to your knitting. The pattern includes instructions for working the mitts flat or in the round. The beads are inserted as you work the cuff with a small crochet hook. The long cuffs can be worn down on your hand or farther up your arm to keep your wrist warm with three-quarter length sleeves. The long cuffs are 6” long and take 125 yards; the short cuffs are 3” long and take 75 yards. Shown in Jorstad Creek Deschutes.

Capriccio Mitts

The Capriccio Hat & Mitts by Nancy Mills use a free form yet structured design. The color notes may be placed where you want or follow the pattern. The mitts are knit flat then joined with a 3-needle bind off. There’s only a small amount of knitting in the round for the thumb. The pattern includes three sizes for both the hat and mitts for children and adults. About 250 yards of main color and 120 yards of contrast color in DK weight yarn will make the large hat and mitts in the same combination. Shown in Jorstad Creek Chelan.

You will need 140 – 180 yards of sport weight yarn. Shown in Jorstad Creek Deschutes.

Italian Rib Mitts

The Italian Rib Mitts by Kaia Petersen have a solid and yet ornate style with two stitch patterns to form the wrist and the hand of the mitts. Beads add sparkle to the cuff of the mitts. These mitts are knit in the round from the wrist to the fingers and can be made in two sizes (7½ and 8 inches around the hand above the thumb). You will need 160 seed beads and one skein of Jorstad Creek’s Deschutes yarn for either of two sizes. Shown in Alpine Blue, Light Grey and Tibetan Red.
